Biography

My name is Claudi Martinez, and I work with music and sound. I would call myself a composer, a producer and a sound designer, but I don’t actually see any difference between them. I’m from Barcelona, but living in London actually.

I don’t remember anytime in my life when I was not surrounded by music. I started studying music theory and clarinet when I was five years old, and I have not stopped since back then. Actually, I literally always have an ongoing, non-stopping melody in my head.

I have always been a kind of a techie myself, so when I discovered electric guitars existed I suddenly started to flood my room with amplifiers and all kind of electric instruments.

When I finished high school I went straight to Barcelona to study guitar, voice, piano and music theory for five in years in “Taller de Músics” and Berklee’s “L’aula del Liceu”. Not happy with that, I moved to London and got a Bmus Music Degree in Music Production, Composition and Music Synchronisation with first honours at the LCCM, "London Centre of Contemporary Music", in which I learnt the intricacies of composing, mixing, mastering and mostly to deal with projects involving a lot of people.

At that point I had started to compose for a lot of videogames and some other projects like short movies and adverts, and produce other musicians and bands which led to the creation of Karpa Records, a very special Record Label and artist collective in which we constantly release new albums and work with amazing artists from London like Gabriel Kazz, Jane Silver, Sans Soucis and The Long One.

Right now I keep working as a composer and sound designer for media, produce other artists and work on my own music. So I’m still quite surrounded by music, and for many years to come.

And when I am too tired of making noises, I like to play videogames and read a good book (although it’s normally a music book!).
